How to Measure for a Bath Screen

A simple guide to help you take accurate measurements and avoid costly fitting issues.

Why Getting the Right Measurement Matters

Ordering a custom glass bath screen means you’ll get a product that fits your space exactly with no guesswork, no returns, and no leaks. Whether you’re replacing an existing screen or starting from scratch, this guide will help you take the right measurements and avoid common mistakes.

What You'll Need

  • A tape meaure (Preferably metal)
  • A spirit level (optional but recommended)
  • A notepad or phone to record measurements
  • Someone to assist
  • The height you'd like the screen to reach (e.g. just above the shower head)

Ste-by-Step Measuring Instructions

  • Step 1 - Measure the length of Your Bath Edge

This is the horizontal area where the screen will sit.

✔ Measure from the inside edge of the wall to the desired endpoint of the screen.

✔ Record this in millimetres (mm).

💡 Most bath screens are between 800–1000mm wide, but we make yours to suit your needs.

  • Step 2 - Measure the Height of the Screen

This is how tall you want the screen to be from the top of the bath.

✔ Measure vertically from the top edge of the bath (where it meets the wall) up to your desired height.

✔ Typical screens are 1400–1500mm tall, but we can go up to 1800mm if needed.

🎯 Pro Tip: Don’t guess. Measure the full height even if it “looks standard.”

  • Step 3 - Check for Obstructions

Look for anything that may get in the way of the screen or hinges:

    • Window ledges
    • Towel rails
    • Light switches
    • Overhanging shelves or units

✔ Make a note of anything within 200mm of the bath edge.

  • Step 4 - Decide on Left or Right Hand Fitting

Which side of the bath will your screen sit on?

    ✔ Stand facing the bath:

    • If it's on your right = right-hand screen
    • If it's on your left = left-hand screen

Some screens are reversible, but for bespoke glass with cut-outs or fittings, this matters.

  • Step 5 - Check Your Wall Type

Is the wall solid brick, timber stud, or tiled plasterboard?

✔ If unsure, knock gently and listen for a hollow sound.

✔ Solid walls can handle heavier screens or hinge-mounted glass.

✔ Stud walls may require wall channels or reinforcement.
